Effectively campaigned for the ABFF to be an annual Miami Beach event funded by the city, with an initial commitment of $400,000 for three years.

Effectively campaigned against proposed "Zero Tolerance" Policing policy during high impact periods on Miami Beach.

Effectively Campaigned for Chief Wayne Jones to be Miami Beach's First Black Chief of Police, then subsequently championed an additional unprecedented two years on his contract in 2026.

Successfully Advocated for Black Developer (Donahue Peebles lll) Legacy Real Estate's Winning Barclay Redevelopment Proposal after being initially prevented by Commission Member.

Successfully co-sponsored and hosted the MIA Legacy's 20th Anniversary Gala (Dexter Bridgeman) at the Loews Hotel.

Provided effective enforcement, traffic, parking & zoning strategies adopted by City Administration for Spring Break, Memorial Day weekend & other High Impact Periods.

Co Sponsored City Proclamation & Steel Pulse Day, Honoring Steel Pulse for 50 years of Reggae Music.

City Proclamation to the Black Affairs Advisory Committee honoring for the first time - the historic contributions of Black Businesses in Miami Beach for Black Business Month.

Successfully co-sponsored the Washington Ave BID's Muhammad Ali Art Exhibition Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Muhammad Ali Becoming World Heavy Weight Champion.

Co Sponsored Miami Takeover's Celebration of 50 years of Go Go Music at the Miami Beach Bandshell with City Proclamation and Concert.

Successfully co-sponsored the Annual Love Is Love Hip Hop Block Party at the Normandy Fountain.

Successfully co-sponsored the Annual Mlami Beach Dr Martin Luther King Day celebrations with MDPL.

City Proclamation with the French Consulate honoring World War hero/Artist Josephine Baker who desegregated Miami Beach entertainment venues.

Black Affairs Advisory Committee City Proclamation for the DeAnne Connolly Graham Black & Jewish Art Collaboration series with the Greater Miami Jewish Federation.

What are some of the important initiatives the MBBAAC is working on Right Now?
  • The Tap Tap Cultural Landmark, Building Purchase & Preservation - The Miami Beach Black Affairs Committee  is working diligently on the acquisition/preservation of our dear cultural landmark  through purchasing options which may include the city, county, or  public/private partnerships. We currently have a coordinated effort with Donahue Peebles III - actively conducting due diligence to possibly  purchase the property, however we are requesting City/County support (financial incentives/subsidies) for the project.
  • The Inaugural Miami Beach Black History Tour! - An exclusive tour experience that amplifies the rich Black cultural heritage of Miami Beach while supporting its Black Businesses - Launching during the American Black Film Festival 2026.
